Google prepares an official certification to consider gaming mobiles. By passing a series of tests and offering minimal functionalities, they will obtain this classification by Google.
As we have already mentioned in many news, Google requires a number of things for new Android devices. On the one hand, there is Digital Wellbeing or related solutions as an important requirement to have Android 10 with its services. Recently leaks have come out of the gaming device certification program, but it is mainly for Android gaming phones. The certification of this device has been established by the technology giant as a way of giving a certain quality seal.
Gaming phones are nothing new, but they aren't exactly that popular yet. We know only a few like Razer phones, Black Shark, ASUS ROG and the Nubia Red Magic series. These gaming-focused phones need to be standardized and thus the certification program enters the picture.
Starting at the higher end, these gaming phones now fall into the upper-mid-range categories. This means that more people can afford them. They usually work with MediaTek or Qualcomm chips.
A program to certify that you can play excellently
With the Game Device Certification program, Google can ensure that more Android devices can be trusted. Google Mobile Services requirements for ODM and OEM include minimum specifications, technology requirements, and such a certification program.
A Google document discovered has revealed some additional requirements of the Android platform to be a mobile gaming. Included are the technical requirements for Gaming Device Certification that OEMs must meet. Once fulfilled or approved, a phone can be considered a gaming mobile. The special requirements mentioned are as follows: Vulkan Graphics API 1.1 support, pass OpenGL ES / Vulkan graphics conformance testing, meet other Choreographer and SurfaceFlinger requirements, and a minimum of 2.3 GB of RAM.
There is no confirmation or public announcement about the Gaming Device Certification program yet, but hopefully it will be helpful. Gaming phones are in a category of their own, so they need to be regulated. Meeting the requirements should be pretty easy, especially if a manufacturer is really serious about selling gaming phones.
