Certideal shows the first barometer of sales in Spain of refurbished mobiles

Duranet today, the website specializing in the sale of refurbished mobile phones with a Certideal physical office, showed the first scale of consumption of refurbished mobile phones in Spain. With this, they wanted to demonstrate that more and more refurbished mobiles are being sold in the country, for sustainability, and also to save money on the purchase of a terminal when renewing it.

The data that follows has been conducted on a sample of 1.000 representative respondents and refurbished mobile customers.

Sales and the intention to buy a refurbished mobile grow

First of all, there are the purchase intentions that lead to buying a mobile that is not new. 88% answered because they care about sustainability, knowing the enormous amount of water that is spent to obtain the minerals to obtain the components of the mobile circuitry and its screen. It is followed by 48% who think about sustainability when getting a new product, and even 68% would pay more when buying a product and service if it is more sustainable. Buying second-hand or refurbished is not new in Spain, as 89% of respondents said they are willing to buy second-hand or refurbished books, 78% in the case of cars, 76% in furniture, and 56% on computers and smartphones.

The purchase intention and the final result have a certain difference between men and women, according to the results shown. Men have a 61% intention to purchase a refurbished mobile, and women 51%. But in the end, It is women who buy a refurbished mobile the most, given that of those who buy refurbished products, 51% of women bought a refurbished mobile, and 45% of men. In the presentation of the scale, Íñigo Giner from Certideal commented that a response he received from a respondent why she does not buy refurbished mobiles was that “I already inherited my husband's cell phones".

Now, what reasons do Spaniards have to buy refurbished mobiles? The vast majority, 79% said that to save money. The other reasons are already very secondary, such as that it does not matter that the mobile is not new, accessing higher-end products, protecting the environment. And already much less common, that being refurbished gives them the same confidence as a new one.

Regarding the latter, there is still some fear of refurbished products. 39% of those who said that they do not trust refurbished, it is because they believe that the price does not compensate, that they do not trust the refurbished and that they want to try truly new products. Barely 5% do not know what refurbished ones are, although Íñigo Giner commented that they see a lot of word of mouth work from people who recommend it to save money on the purchase of a mobile. The refurbished ones are very useful for a user to renew the mobile, in 79% of those surveyed, but there is also a large presence of refurbished sales for the children, for the couple, and for other types of relatives. Finally, they stated that the iPhone They are the ones that sell the most as refurbishments compared to Android phones.
