Apple will update the iPhone 12 because France says it absorbs a lot of radiation

Apple has announced that it will release a software update for iPhone 12 owners in France. Why an update to a device that will soon have a great-grandchild in a few weeks and why in the French country? Well because the regulators They ordered to stop sales of the phone iPhone 12 amid concerns that the device was violating radiation exposure limits.

French regulators ordered a ban on iPhone 12 models earlier this week after testing the phone and finding that its Specific Absorption Rate, which is how much radio frequency is absorbed into a body from a device; exceeded European radiation exposure limits. Since this is a European-wide limit, Belgium will review the French findings, and other countries such as Germany, Italy and more would be monitoring the situation.

It turns out that the iPhone 12 absorbed a lot of radiation

The iPhone 12 first went on sale at the end of 2020. If it has taken some time for this problem to be discovered, it is because the French regulator ANFR has been carrying out tests on more than 140 phones recently.

Apple has rejected the claims and says that “this is related to a specific testing protocol used by French regulators and not a safety concern“. They have already sent an iPhone update for the ANFR to test.

It is very notable that Apple decides to update the iPhone 12, days after launching the iPhone 15. But it's understandable if you think that they are still being sold as cheaper iPhone alternatives for lagging users, and that they still have support in the form of updates.
