Samsung outsources the production of its mid-range and low-end mobiles
Samsung will stop producing low-end mobiles in its factories to focus on other more profitable products. Other assembly companies will take care of the mobiles that give them less profit margin.
Samsung remains the world's largest mobile device brand. It doesn't look like Huawei can dethrone the South Korean brand in the short term, especially now that it faces challenges in the United States. To be fair, Huawei is already in second place, even without a smartphone market in the US Sure, Honor phones are sold there, but it's not enough to say that Huawei has a huge audience in the country. As for Samsung, it still needs to make adjustments to its business strategies if it is to remain a leader in the business.
Samsung's growth in the mobile market has stalled. It still sells millions of phones, but Chinese manufacturers don't make it easy for them. It is not only competing against Huawei, but also other phone brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, realme o Live. You now compete with a low-cost manufacturer, so you must rethink your strategy.
Samsung will focus on the most profitable mobiles
Samsung has a smartphone factory in China, mainly for the Galaxy A models. Last October, it closed the factory to move out of China to smaller contractors like Wingtech. Samsung doesn't make official announcements or display the numbers, but others say the company plans to ship 60 million devices made in China by other assemblers in 2020. The number is far from the 300 million units Samsung is expected to ship.
Like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Huawei, Samsung's use of Wingtech as an assembler can reduce production costs. These contractors can typically produce phones quickly and deliver them on time. In terms of quality, Samsung may encounter some problem as production is already being outsourced. He does not want another fiasco like the Note 7 as they will continue to carry his name.
Samsung has a big decision to make here, especially when it comes to the budget and the mid-range phone series. The most expensive Galaxy smartphones will surely still be made in South Korea in order to manage quality control effectively.
