Samsung Galaxy Fold breaks with almost 130.000 folds but the company says it lasts 200.000

The resistance of the Samsung Galaxy Fold has been in question since its first model and it does not seem that the company complies. He promised that he would hold 200.000 folds but eventually he gets more than half.

CNET decided to put the Samsung Galaxy Fold through a multi-fold test and the phone did not live up to Samsung's promises. The $ 2000 device was placed in a machine that quickly folded and unfolded it, and its screen failed around the 120.000-fold mark.

When the Fold was announced, Samsung said it had “tested up to 200,000 folds” in internal testing. If you watch the company’s video of the tests, you can see that the device is folding at a slower rate than the machine CNET used. Could that make a difference in terms of stress on the device? Probably. These quick tests put more strain on the Fold’s hinge than it would face in real-world use by a normal user, which could explain the premature failure.

There are a few things to keep in mind. First, although the phone fell slightly short of the expectations set by Samsung, more than 100,000 times means that it would last several years based on how often people tend to check their smartphones on a daily basis, which is estimated to range from 80 and 200. But if you stay at the low end, the Galaxy Fold would survive more than three years.

It will fail earlier due to non-recommended use than due to bending it too much

The most important point is that folding the Galaxy Fold is not the stamina issue that should concern us. It is the general fragility of the device. Samsung's ultra-expensive, futuristic phone needs to be kept out of water and dust can still get in despite Samsung's redesign of the product. The second review seems to crash less often than the first, but the Galaxy Fold is still a preview of a future foldable phone, and it's probably not the kind of thing to seriously consider dropping that much money on.
