Samsung Galaxy Note 10 delayed by a trade war, but not with China
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is lagging due to the trade war with Japan. Samsung does not get enough components to be able to manufacture it at the expected rate for later sale.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 was supposed to save the company after the inability to launch a viable version of the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The company bet everything on that mobile that has not yet come out and now suffers problems with the Note 10, which was supposed to be a lifesaver in case the Fold did not have them all with it.
The well-known trade war with China has prevented many companies from releasing some products, but we are not talking about that trade war, if not the one that Japan and South Korea have, which is not exactly that they are good friends. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 relies heavily on polymers made in Japanese laboratories, which are the only ones that can manufacture such components on a viable industrial scale.
Trade war between Japan and South Korea
The details of this trade war are complex and stem from the constant problems that both superpowers have had with each other. The upshot now is that South Korean companies cannot do business with Japanese companies without fear of a hefty fine from the Seoul government.
These polymers are needed to make displays and parts of circuitry and chips. The situation, although serious, is not similar to what Huawei went through, but it does mean a decrease in the production of Exynos chips by ten percent of the estimated production.
Still, because there are multiple versions, it doesn't mean there will be a shortage of mobiles. Different chips have been reported that do not use said polymers and even the incorporation of Qualcomm chips means that not all models use Exynos. Even so, this will mean a delay in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 that can be produced and will delay the date of both the announcement (which is expected for August) and the expected launch for September.
