Spotify will give more advantages to free users, who have been forgotten for years

After four years forgotten, free Spotify users will receive a series of improvements, to enrich their experience, offering up to 40 hours of free music.

The free version of Spotify for smartphone has been without news since 2014, while other application services have been implementing certain improvements. Within the event that is being held in New York, the company has highlighted the importance of free users, for which they have launched an update of the application, which had been dead for four years. This new version, which has been rumored for days, will offer users a whopping 40 hours of music a day according to the user's personal tastes.

During this event, the company has said that they have more than 90 million free users and that a large part of the Premium users started using the free version of the application. For them it is very important to offer free music and for this they have reached different agreements with record companies to improve the offer of free content.

They have also highlighted that they are not only a company in the music business, but that they are also in the talent discovery business. So the Radio mode that was available so far is history, they also suppress the random playback of songs and free users will have at their disposal personalized playlists according to their tastes.

The new free mode is not as good as it may sound, since users will be able to listen to the songs as many times as they want, as long as they are in one of the playlists. We are talking about 15 playlists with the most popular songs on this service that will give 750 songs a day, which is equivalent to more than 40 hours of music every 24 hours.

The playlists will include, among others, Daily Mistakes, Weekly Discovery, New Release Radar, and Daily Top Hits. These are the most popular tracks, especially the first three, and are based on user tastes. The playlists can be listened to in any order. Additionally, free users will also be offered what are called Assisted Playlists. This is a recommendation system that uses all the playlists you've created, including their titles and the songs within them, to suggest songs every time you search or add a title to a playlist. (It's rubbish, because me, being a huge metalhead, having to listen to reggaeton ... well, no way. I'd rather die or never listen to music again.)

A new streaming service will be implemented that will reduce consumption in song playback by up to 75%. Users will thus benefit from an alternative mode to the payment method of downloading the themes, saving data and not ending up with mobile data if we are not connected to a WiFi network.

The smartphone application will bring a redesign, making it more attractive. The recommended music will be given more importance on the home page, where recommendations and available playlists will be displayed. The idea is that you always have themes to discover on the first screen without having to navigate through the application, maximizing the user experience.

There will be the option to create a playlist in addition to the 15 that Spotify offers, without a maximum number of lists. You will have an improved creation mode and before adding a song, you will be able to see more information about it, such as knowing which disc it belongs to and listening to it before entering it in the list. Ads in the free version will remain the same. No campaigns have been canceled within the free mode engine.

Spotify Free, will reach users in the coming weeks. There is no official release date, so when it launches we'll let you know.
