Youtube Music will be the default music player on Android 10
Google forces its partners to make Youtube Music the default player on Android. Leave the Google Play Music player like that to focus people on brands they may know.
While Google Play Music is still alive and well, its days are likely numbered, especially with the latest news from Google. YouTube Music is now pre-installed on all Android 10 devices , as well as new smartphones running Android 9.
YouTube Music service is a music streaming service similar to Spotify, Pandora, etc. You can listen to songs, albums and playlists, but since it is also YouTube, you can use it to play video clips, concerts and music content. If you use the main YouTube app to listen to music, the viewing will also transfer to the YouTube Music app. This synchronization will try to make the algorithms understand our musical preferences.
Goodbye Play Music
But while Google Play Music's eventual demise won't come as a surprise when it happens, you can still enjoy using it to listen to and buy music. But if you have a new device, this means that you will have to download the application from the Google Play Store, unlike YouTube Music, which will already be pre-installed. If you don't have an Android 10 device yet or if you aren't buying a new smartphone, you can still download it from the Play Store anyway. It will be necessary to adapt to the changes that Google wants.
Now when we actually say goodbye to Google Play Music, that's probably still a long way off. While many of its features are already being migrated to YouTube Music, the player itself is not as seamless and perfect as some would hope. So for now, let's see how the new default music player in Android 10 and new Android 9 devices will be received.
