AMD Radeon Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.4.2 with support for Gears Tactics

The new AMD Radeon Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.4.2 drivers released. These new controllers add support for the Gears Tactics and Predator: Hunting Grounds games. In addition, important fixes have been implemented for RX Vega graphics cards, such as the system block or black screen when run Folding @ Home. The use of hardware acceleration for video content is also fixed.

Problems solved

  • Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may experience a system hang or black screen when running Folding @ Home while simultaneously running an application that uses video content hardware acceleration.
  • You may experience a system crash or crash when using the Edge browser to play Netflix content.
  • XSplit may experience an application crashing or freezing when making a scene change.
  • Minor stuttering may occur when performing a task change with the performance metrics overlay open in some games.
  • Overwatch may experience an intermittent crash when entering a game or during prolonged gaming sessions.
  • Radeon RX 5700 series graphics product system configurations may experience screen loss or intermittent black screen while gaming or on desktop with limited number of screens.
  • Radeon Software may experience an application crash when playing games with non-alphanumeric characters in the game title.
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may experience an application hang with Microsoft computers when hardware acceleration is enabled.
  • An “Unable to obtain requirements” error message may appear intermittently when viewing the Upgrade Advisor tab in Radeon Software.
  • Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may experience a system hang or TDR when playing games with Instant Replay or Record Desktop enabled.
  • Resolved an installation issue where error 1603 could occur when an installation prerequisite for Visual C ++ was not correctly detected as installed.

Known issues

  • Enhanced sync may cause a black screen to appear when enabled in some games and system settings. Any user who may have problems with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a workaround.
  • Using the Edge web browser to play video content with a multi-screen system configuration may cause the system to hang or hang after long periods of use.
  • The Performance Metric Overlay and Radeon WattMan incorrectly report idle clock speeds higher than expected on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. Performance and power consumption are not affected by this incorrect report.
  • Modifying the HDMI Scaling slider can cause the FPS to hang at 30.
  • Some games may exhibit intermittent stuttering during gameplay on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
  • Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may experience a system hang or TDR when multitasking changes using Alt + Tab.
  • Corruption on desktop or in game can occur intermittently when HDR is enabled.
  • ML Direct Media Filters are not currently available in the Radeon Software Media Gallery for image or video content.
  • Some users may still experience black screen or system hang issues during prolonged periods of gaming. AMD will continue to monitor and investigate reports of these issues closely.
  • Some laptops may encounter a BSOD when installing Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition over an existing OEM graphics driver. To fix this problem, first uninstall the OEM graphics driver using Programs and Features in Control Panel. Once complete, install the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition package and select the Factory Reset option during setup.
