Broadcom Announces Purchase of Symantec, Makers of Norton Antivirus for $10.700 Billion

Announced by Broadcom that they have acquired Symantec, best known for developing and maintaining Norton Antivirus software.

Computer security has always been important, but for a while now it has taken on even more relevance. In recent years we have seen how they have found serious vulnerabilities in processors and software. Broadcom specializes in networking, infrastructure, software, chips and other solutions for the professional segment. To improve its security, the company has acquired Symantec, better known for being the developer of Norton Antivirus.

Symantec, for those who do not know it, is a company specialized in software, focused on the field of computer security. The company has had several controversies. For a long time I have presented security problems in their business antivirus, which hurt the company. It is also known for pirating licensed software for its benefit, causing clients to be sued. Even Google took away digital certificates in Chrome.

Broadcom acquires Symantec to enhance its business line of business

The agreement, they have announced, has been closed at 10 billion dollars and should be validated during the first quarter of the next fiscal year. It should be noted that in 700, Symantec acquired Veritas Software for $ 2004 billion. There is clearly a decline in the value of the company, which is not going through its best moments.

During this period it is expected to obtain authorization from the United States government, the European Union and Japan, which are the three competent authorities that must validate the operation. Although there is no validation, by both companies it is sold as: "one of the leading infrastructure technology companies in the world"

"This transaction represents the next logical step in our strategy after our acquisitions of Brocade and CA Technologies," said Hock Tan, President and CEO of Broadcom.

The acquisition brings Broadcom a host of endpoint security products and cloud security services. Solutions are also added to prevent data loss.
