Windows XP source code could have been leaked

Leaking Windows XP source code could pose a very serious security problem. That code has not yet been confirmed to be legitimate.

Windows XP has been officially abandoned by Microsoft for years. It is a highly outdated and very old version and I only join in a testimonial way. That doesn't mean that leaked Windows XP source code can pose a huge security problem today.

A serious security problem with a leak

A few days ago, what may be the source code for Windows XP SP4 was leaked on 1chan. It has not been confirmed yet, but if it is true, we are facing a very big security problem.

Although it is unsupported and in disuse, at least 25 million users and terminals in the world still use Windows XP because it cannot be updated for technological or economic reasons, or simply neglect. For example, the ATMs of many banks still use Windows XP. There are also several companies that use Windows XP for their computers and office terminals.

Even Windows 10 it would be in a compromise because part of its source code is inherited from the version of Windows XP that could have been leaked. For now, it is to be confirmed that it is really a source code leak.

But as we said, this is a very serious security problem. With that code, vulnerabilities could be easily seen instead of creating external tools and experimenting. Windows XP has not received updates for years, even if they are security, so whoever uses it will have a serious problem if they handle important and compromised data on their terminal. It remains to be seen how Microsoft acts in the face of this delicate situation that affects more than a dozen users and terminals.
