Hollywood already hopes to use Artificial Intelligence to create scripts

It is currently being carried out a writers' strike by the Writer's Guild of America, the largest syndicate of screenwriters for Hollywood. They have practically paralyzed the production of series and movies, even those with finished scripts, since it is not uncommon for there to be scriptwriters on stage to ask for last-minute changes. Late nights have been canceled until further notice, and the Hollywood economy has lost at least $10.000 billion in valuation in one day. Hollywood's response to this? Trust Artificial Intelligence to make scripts.

The idea of using artificial intelligence to create scripts should not come as a surprise, as they hope to speed up and even make the process cheaper. Streaming services are asking for more and more content, and there are limits on humans. But an artificial intelligence could continuously give scripts without getting tired.

Instead of improving the conditions of the writers, Hollywood wants them to correct the results of an artificial intelligence

For weeks, various studios and streaming companies have been planning to use AI to generate scripts based on books and other intellectual property works in the public domain, with lists of titles circulating among development executives. This is what the Above the Line portal affirms, according to its own sources.

They state that almost all studies have already looked at this possibility. If those plans go ahead, the studios plan to hire screenwriters so that they rewrite those scripts when the strike ends. But the WGA asks among its demands to end the strike that Artificial Intelligence not be used to create any type of literary material.

People at the studios suggest that writers should not fear AI, but rather embrace it, as its use is inevitable. Joe Russo, one of the key figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; believes that "It can be a wonderful tool, both for writing and for making movies« On the other hand, Geoffrey Hinton, the so-called «Godfather of AI» who has just left his job at Google, talks about dangers like this.

Sounds like an interesting idea on paper. But we already noted that even the most complex AIs have trouble being creative efficiently, improvising, and even being somewhat complex. A script by an artificial intelligence has every chance of being basic and even incongruous. Furthermore, there has already been an experiment years ago of a short film made entirely by Artificial Intelligence by Austin McConnell.
