IBM to buy Red Hat for $ 34.000 billion

IBM has confirmed that it will buy RedHat in an operation that will cost it 34.000 million dollars. They want to buy all the shares in the company at a price of $ 190 each.

IBM has communicated the agreement with which they will take over all of RedHat, one of the most prominent and important OpenSource companies in the free software scene. Founded in 1993, at the time of the announcement they were valued at $ 20.500 billion, which will offer a great return to investors who have assets in this company, with a cash payment for the shares.

The objective is strengthen IBM's position in the business sector, becoming part of the Hybrid Cloud section of the company. Jim Whitehurst, Red Hat CEO, will join IBM's senior management and report to IBM CEO Ginni Rometty.

This operation makes a lot of sense since IBM has focused on the business services section, with cloud services being one of the four sectors in which they are focused. The rest would be social functions, mobility and analytics.

IBM strengthens its section for companies by buying Red Hat

This announcement comes after somewhat lower profits than IBM expected, despite its advances with graphene. This purchase will allow its customers to do more of the work in the cloud, with features such as keeping business applications always available and ensuring they can move them between servers seamlessly.

Its most prominent rivals in this sector are Amazon and Microsoft, which have a widely used cloud service infrastructure, as well as accessible to companies of all sizes and very easily scalable to adapt to changes in size and needs.

It is expected that Red Hat will continue to offer contributions to the Linux kernel, with Red Hat being the second largest company that contributes the most to the kernel, followed by Intel. There is no reason for them to stop, as your contributions are essential for the servers to continue to function properly.
