Microsoft already plans to introduce ads into Bing AI searches with ChatGPT

When ChatGPT was released and made accessible to the public, a mantra that was repeated a lot is that you would possibly end seeing ads from sites that trap you into showing you ads when you search for information. Now, it seems that it has come full circle and Microsoft is already planning to put advertising on searches made with Bing AI, its version of the search engine Bing powered by ChatGPT artificial intelligence results.

La ChatGPT AI It hasn't been on the market very long. But it has already achieved some success in driving more traffic to the Bing search engine, one of Microsoft's main goals with the chatbot, by openly investing in its OpenAI developers. And now, it would be your turn to monetize it.

ChatGPT was going to free you from seeing ads on websites, but you won't get rid of ads on Bing Ai

Another of the objectives that Microsoft sets out with Bing Ai is add advertising to monetize the chatbot in a more concrete way. This has been seen in a Bing search engine blog.

The blog post talks about “explore the use of ads” and states that “some initial ideas are being considered“. Quite possibly they are just testing some initial ideas before deciding on a final one. Among the ideas that Microsoft is considering is making it so that if the user passes the mouse over a link, a panel with more links to the content of the editor appears. Another idea that they have tried is that of “place a legend rich in licensed content from Microsoft Start” along with a chat response, to drive traffic to these Microsoft Start partners and share ad revenue with that partner.

Following this, Microsoft added that they are also exploring the possibility of placing ads in the chat experience to share ad revenue with partners whose content contributed to the chat response. Thus, it would continue to contribute to those websites that, in theory, would not receive visits due to attracting search engine searches, but have contributed to providing necessary answers. But let's remember that ChatGPT and other similar AIs don't really understand the information they receive and only give a probabilistic result. May be prone to spreading misinformation, especially if people are looking for confirmation of their pre-established ideas. A few days ago, they had to deny that Bard had been trained with GMail text, because he only knew how to respond that Google and its services had trained him.

  1. The only reason I'm using the Bing search engine is because of the ChatGPT integration, if they put advertising I'll put the Google search engine again and I'll look for a separate app to use chatgpt that doesn't have advertising.
