News and announcements from the second day of the Snapdragon Summit 2022

A few days ago, the second day of the SnapDragon Summit 2022 ended, an event in which Qualcomm shows the news regarding its Snapdragon hardware and software ecosystem. There the following news and advances were announced:

Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon AR2 Augmented Reality Glasses

The Snapdragon AR2 Gen 1 platform will deliver AR technology ushering in a new generation of highly capable and elegant AR headsets. They hope to revolutionize the form factor of augmented reality glasses and usher in a new era of spatial computing experiences for the mixture of the real world and the real world. metaverse.

To help create the thinnest, highest-performing AR glass possible, Qualcomm has created a multi-chip distributed processing architecture combined with custom IP blocks. The main processor occupies 40% less PCB footprint on the glass and the overall platform delivers 2,5x higher AI performance while consuming 50% less power. Thus, augmented reality experiences can be enjoyed in glasses that can be worn comfortably for long periods of time and meet the demands of consumer and business use cases.

New Qualcomm S5 and S3 Gen 2 sound platforms set the standard for premium sound experiences

Qualcomm also announced its most advanced Bluetooth audio platforms to date: the Qualcomm S5 Gen 2 sound platform and the Qualcomm S3 Gen 2 sound platform with support for Snapdragon Sound technology. They have been optimized to work with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, rich-featured, ultra-low-power platforms that add new features to Snapdragon Sound. These include spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, enhanced lossless music streaming, and 48ms latency between phone and headset for lag-free gaming.

Platforms also support third-generation Qualcomm Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation. This enhances the audio experience by adapting to both the in-ear fit and the user's external environment. This Qualcomm Adaptive ANC also includes Adaptive Transparency mode with automatic speech detection, to support smooth transitions between immersive noise cancellation and natural sound filtering when you need to hear beyond your headphones. For audio device developers, the improved ANC technology helps solve common problems like wind noise, howling and adverse events. The Qualcomm S5 and S3 Gen 2 sound platforms are already in customer testing with commercial products expected to arrive in the second half of 2023.

Snapdragon powers the future of mobile computing with industry-leading AI innovation for Windows 11

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. showcased its vision to advance mobile computing with innovative AI collaborations that drive convergence between mobile and PC to bring cutting-edge mobile innovations to Windows 11. Qualcomm Technologies and Microsoft are advancing mobile capabilities together. AI, and with it they are transforming modern notebooks with the powerful performance, neural processing, and efficiency of Snapdragon compute platforms.

This collaboration will enable new AI-accelerated experiences for Windows 11 users. Through Windows Studio Effects we will have Voice Focus, Background Blur, Auto Framing and Eye Contact. Snapdragon will intelligently offload these compute-intensive tasks to a dedicated AI engine, freeing up the CPU and GPU to deliver better performance and power efficiency.

ISV resources make it easy for developers to use the dedicated AI engine to enhance their experiences. To simplify workflows and push the boundaries of creativity, Adobe has used the development kit powered by Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 to ensure that its Creative Suite uses dedicated AI processing capabilities for more personalized and intuitive experiences that are combine with Adobe Sensei. They have also announced that in 2023 more key Adobe Creative Cloud apps will go native to Windows 11 PCs.
