Vulkan 1.2 is now available with up to 23 new improvements
We have seen in recent years how video games have evolved a lot in terms of graphic quality. Not only graphics engines have evolved a lot, so have APIs. Khronos Group, the open consortium of companies The industry develops the Vulkan standard. This advanced interoperability standard has received an update called Vulkan 1.2 that integrates 23 tested extensions to the core of the API.
Vulkan is gaining weight in the industry, especially because it has the significant support of AMD. The company led by Lisa Su is a firm supporter of the open solutions, developing tools without costs for users. A support that means that any game under Vulkan works better with AMD graphics.

The implementation of 23 extensions with the Vulkan 1.2 update offers important new features highly demanded by developers. New communication functionalities with the hardware are added. Performance has also been improved in applications and the usability of the API has been improved.
Vulkan 1.2 brings together nearly two dozen priority features developed over the past two years into a single unified core of the Vulkan standard, establishing a cutting-edge level of functionality in the industry's only open GPU API for cross-platform 3D and computation acceleration.
Khronos will continue to provide regular updates to the Vulkan ecosystem with this proven, developer-centric methodology to meet the needs and broaden horizons of real-world applications.
Tom Olson, Distinguished ARM Engineer and Chairman of the Vulkan Task Force
Note that any graphics card that supports previous versions of Vulkan, will support the new update, guaranteeing wide availability. This allows five major GPU manufacturers to implement the new Vulkan 1.2 API. The winners are ARM, AMD, Imagination Technoliges, Intel and NVIDIA. Finally it is also supported by Mesa RADV, the open source drivers for AMD.
