Chinese keyboard input causes excessive processor usage in Windows 10

A new processor load problem appears with Windows 10, in this case due to keyboard input in Chinese languages.

Problems in Windows 10 since the May 2019 Update have been the usual trend. Every new cumulative update has a new problem and users are getting more than tired. The update KB4512941 would be causing a new problem regarding the use of the processor of our system. The new problem it would not have to do with CortanaIt has to do with the keyboard.

After May 2019 Update, problems and failures have been the usual trend. The first problems had to do with Bluetooth, causing wireless keyboards to not sync. Every time Microsoft fixes a problem, a new one is automatically generated. We have seen everything, until the user's screen turns orange without explanation.

They detect a new problem in Windows 10

This new bug that causes increased processor usage has nothing to do with Cortana. It seems that the new bug has to do with keyboard inputs. The positive part is that this error is not very common, basically it would only affect users who have the keyboard set to Chinese.

Specifically, the problem affects the Simplified Chinese (ChsIME.EXE) and Traditional Chinese (ChtIME.EXE) languages. The reason why these language settings are causing mindless processor usage is unknown. It seems that the problem is in the Input Method Editor.

“Some input method editors (IMEs) may be unresponsive or have high CPU usage. The affected IMEs include Simplified Chinese (ChsIME.EXE) and Traditional Chinese (ChtIME.EXE) with Changjie / Quick keyboard, ”Microsoft says.

If you have this problem or know someone who has this problem you can correct it manually as follows:

  • Select the Start button and type Services.
  • Locate the touch keyboard and handwriting pad service and double-click it or press and select Properties.
  • Locate the startup type: and change it to Manual
  • Select Accept (Ok)
