Microsoft messes it up again, this time with the integration of an Intel driver in Windows 10
Updating Windows 10 with a built-in Intel driver causes a major graphical error preventing normal use of browsers.
Since last May we have not stopped having problems with the cumulative Windows 10. May 2019 Update seems to have been the focus of a thousand problems, including Bluetooth, security or resource consumption. When things seemed to begin to calm down, the umpteenth problem has been found again. This time it would have to do with the latest driver released by Intel.
The biggest problem arose when Microsoft released an update that caused Cortana to consume 40% of the processor even when not in use. Fixing this issue caused the Windows search function to malfunction. To address this, they created a problem with Windows Defender , preventing it from performing automatic or manual scans.
Windows 10 has a new problem due to the latest Intel driver
It appears that Windows Update, when updating an Intel driver, is causing a graphics problem. Following this update, color issues are appearing on the screen. HP computers, and more specifically the ProBook 450 G6, are particularly affected.
Within the KB4517389 part of Windows 10, the Intel Display Driver v26.20.100.7157 was integrated. After the update, there was a problem of a very poor quality user experience. Users highlight issues in Edge and Chrome, among other sites.
The graphics program really seems annoying, but the positive part is that it does not affect performance. It is recommended for now to go back to the previous version of the driver and this way the problem is corrected.
As we can see in the image, pieces appear in the windows as gray. A rare effect seems to have broken the screen. You can also see that if we have the Chrome background in black, the icons are not loaded.
