The National Police communicates that the security problem of Electronic DNIs has been solved and to re-enable them, they must be updated in person.
A few weeks ago we echoed about the problems of the National Identity Document, in this case it was because millions of digital certificates had been canceled due to a security problem. The National Police has been working hard to solve the problem and finally, it is active again with the security problem, solved. For this to work again, we need a face-to-face update of the certificate. The electronic ID security flaw was discovered thanks to the University of the Czech Republic.
During this time, the National Police experts have made certain technical corrections to provide security to the identity document, allowing it to be functional and valid, again. The problem detected was a reliability problem at the time of the electronic execution of the signature and for it to work again, we must go to any National Police station to update it, it is the only update method, the face-to-face one.
If you want to know if you are one of the affected users, you should have to check your National Identity Document and see the subsequent numbering. If this is ASG160.000 or later or has been issued from April 2015 onwards, our ID is affected. If any of these premises are met, we must go to the police station to have the document updated. The National Police also allows us to update and renew our DNIe, when the user's identity has been verified.
The positive of this is that it is not necessary to request an appointment or carry out any previous procedure, we simply have to go directly to any office of the National Police and they will fix it for us. It is a bit cumbersome to have to go to the National Police office to have it activated again and fix the problem, but it is essential to do so if we want to use it again.
