There would be PlayStation 5 development kits from Sony, although not with the definitive hardware, which would be based on Zen and Navi, two 7nm architectures, which would not arrive until next year at the earliest.
It seemed that the chewing gum of the consoles had already come to an end, but it seems that we are quite far from this happening and more before the latest events, especially due to the high price of RAM and SSDs, as well as the increase price of graphics cards. The supremacy in the console market, right now it belongs to Microsoft and its Xbox Box and before this stick, Sony seems to be working intensely on its next console, the PlayStation 5. The first rumors also point, in which they assure working with AMD for hardware.
SemiAccurate has been the first to give some details about the specifications of the next Sony console. According to this medium, this new console will be based on the Zen architecture, something that would mean a significant leap in performance with the current Jaguar of the current PlayStation 4. The graphics would be based on an architecture halfway between Vega and Navi, another important leap in terms of performance, with respect to the current console, based on Polaris. Although the Polaris model has the Rapid Packed Math technology of the current Vega, its performance is not exactly very positive.
Sony's new console would also incorporate silicon-level virtual reality acceleration, indicating that they would be developing a new virtual reality device for the console. It would carry improved features, with the most current technology, which would offer a higher quality refresh rate, with respect to current technologies.
It also seems that the new development kits for the PlayStation 5, would already be available, but, despite everything, for now we will not see the console in a relatively short period. The hardware of this console will be based on 7nm, a manufacturing process that is still quite green and that until 2019, at the earliest, we will not see it on the market, at the earliest. The development kit would not be developed with the final hardware, it would be with development hardware.
The PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony already said, was somewhere in between. This console came three years after the original console and it is expected that by 2019, three years after the Pro version of this console, the new version will arrive, with completely renewed hardware.
Xbox does not have the supremacy in the market even in performance.
Sony and Nintendo's POSIX OSes based on Free BSD both make even a slightly worse hardware store perform better than MS's, and that's why they far outsell it.
Consolers don't normally read benchmarks, try out their favorite games, and decide which one goes best.
