Spoilers don't affect sales, apparently
Speaking in an interview with CNET, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan stated that reservations in Europe for The Last of Us Part II currently exceed those for Marvel's Spider-Man, one of the best-selling games of 2018.
While there was some concern that spoilers in theory would lead fans to cancel their reservations due to knowing key points in the story or that they did not like the course of events, these concerns seem to come from a very noisy minority or from trolls. According to Naughty Dog, The Last of Us Part II is already a success for the study only with the numbers of reservations that there are.
Sony's investigation into the story leaks continues. While they haven't released all the details about the incident, they recently stated that the leak came from someone outside the studio, possibly by a group of hackers who gained access to Naughty Dog's servers. There is no possibility that it was an act of a possible group of employees unhappy with the working conditions as was speculated at the beginning. The Last of US 2 comes out on June 19, exclusively for PlayStation 4 and shortly after we will see clearer figures to know if spoilers and leaks have really affected the sales of one of the most anticipated titles of the generation .
