Spotify grows in the US thanks to the Joe Rogan Experience podcast

When we think of Spotify, we rarely think that we can listen to podcasts there. But it is a profitable business in the United States, and it shows thanks to the signing they have made with Joe Rogan.

In his career he has worked as a comedian and even as a commentator for the UFC. But for eleven years he has been working on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, thanks to which he entered among the 100 most listened to podcasts and in many years has been among the most downloaded on iTunes. And with 190 million downloads in a month, Spotify wants that star in its ranks.

A luxury signing that is already bearing fruit

On May 19, Joe Rogan confirmed that he had reached an agreement with Spotify. It is valued at $ 100 million to exclusively host The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

The deal includes moving its entire library from September this year, which is eleven years of weekly podcasts of one to five hours each, and from 2021 they will be exclusively for Spotify. From then on, the new chapters of The Joe Rogan Experience will be exclusively on Spotify.

The announcement was just a few days ago, but the music and podcast streaming service has seen how in just a few days, its use has increased by 11%. His shares are now worth $ 179. This rise can also be attributed to more people listening to music and podcasts at home due to the coronavirus, but the rise is very recent and can be directly attributed to the signing of Joe Rogan and his podcast.

For us, it is a very strange movement and that so much is paid for a radio program, but in the United States they are still very strong and popular. So much so that they were key pieces in electoral campaigns by hosting different members of political parties.
