Supposed Raptor Lake Intel Core i9-13900K listed with 68 MB cache

A purported screenshot of Intel's flagship Raptor Lake processor, expected to launch this year, has been leaked. It appears to be the Intel Core i9-13900K Raptor Lake CPU, boasting up to 68MB of cache, and was posted by Twitter user @OneRaichu. Early rumors surrounding Raptor Lake suggest that the major addition for this generation will be a significant increase in CPU cache, following AMD's recent focus on this feature in their Ryzen 5000 series , particularly the 5800X3D.

Earlier this year, rumors surfaced that Intel's Raptor Lake CPUs could feature up to 55% more cache compared to Alder Lake CPUs. While Intel's Raptor Lakes will make few changes to the architectural look, they do come with improvements in the cache department and clock speeds.

Leaks Reaffirm Larger Cache on Intel Raptor Lake CPUs

The leaker claims that Intel Raptor Lake CPUs will feature up to 68MB of combined cache , not including the L1 cores. Intel will not be using any vertically stacked cache solution going forward, nor with the Meteor Lake CPUs, as test chips have been seen without vertical stacking technology. For now, they will only be offering more cache within the CPU dies.

Alder Lake 12th generation CPUs would come with 1280 KB of L2 cache and 3072 KB of L3 cache per core. Its Gracemont cores have 2048 KB of L2 cache, along with 3072 KB of L3 cache per cluster made up of four Gracemont cores. We know that the Raptor Lake CPUs will come with a new Raptor Cove core design and will offer up to 24 cores and 32 threads in a lineup of 8 Raptor Cove cores and 16 Gracemont Enhanced for the top of the range, for a total of 32 threads. All of this would add up to a total of 54MB of smart cache for the top-of-the-range model in the Raptor Lake series.

It is estimated that for the rest of the 13th generation Raptor Lake CPUs, Intel will offer 2 MB of L2 cache and 3 MB of L3 cache per Raptor Cove core, while each Gracemont Cluster will have 4 MB of L2 cache and 3 MB of L3 cache. That's 36 MB of L3 cache across all cores , with 16 MB for performance cores and 16 MB for efficiency cores.
