Synology VPN Plus licenses will remain free for all users

NAS and related service provider Synology has announced that its VPN Plus solution for branded routers will remain free for life. Synology will offer its VPN solution for free in the wake of the 2020 pandemic situation, and with the aim of improving the security of its users' networks and facilitating teleworking.

The manufacturer confirms that it will continue to offer a free format for its solution in line with its commitment to the protection and safety of users. With this, companies using Synology NAS will save the cost of the VPN license it offers for life.

A free VPN for business and for life

Synology launched this program during the initial phase of the COVID-19 crisis to improve the security of connections to company servers for teleworking. After 18 months they have seen that the trend will not change and is irreversible. They believe that their users should be able to continue to enjoy the benefits of VPN technology without worrying about cost and will offer free Synology VPN Plus licenses for business forever.

The new program allows owners and users of Synology RT1900ac, RT2600ac and MR2200ac series routers to activate Client VPN Access and Site-to-Site VPN licenses at no additional cost. and they insist that it will be forever.

VPN Plus service allows Synology Routers to host a VPN server that is easy to configure and manage. The VPN service supports SSTP, OpenVPN, L2TP over IPSec, as well as Synology's own SSL VPN protocol and thin desktop client. The web portal-based VPN offers direct access to company intranet spaces as well as providing employees with remote access to a browser-based desktop, whether on PC, mobile, tablet or even console.
