All the problems fans see in Pokémon Sword and Shield
Table of Contents
Pokémon sword and shield have already been leaked and fans are seeing that it does not come to what was expected. Here is a list of the most serious problems.
Pokémon Sword and Shield have already arrived, or at least a final version that has been leaked among users of modified consoles. It is the most anticipated delivery in years and for months we have been seeing graphical problems and other concepts such as the elimination of a large part of the Pokédex.
When we tried it at Madrid Games Week a month ago, we noticed it wasn't in bad shape… But we remember that those demos usually have very polished and controlled material to offer the best of the game. Now that the game is available to many, just a day-one patch away, users of the Pokémon subreddit have compiled a list of all the major problems they've identified.
The number of Pokémon that can be used has been reduced to less than half
Known as “Dexit,” many Pokémon will be unusable in the new games, untransferable, and unable to do anything with them other than send them to Pokémon Home. For all intents and purposes, these removed Pokémon are gone from the mainline game franchise and will take years to return, if ever.
144 moves have been removed
They calculate that about 144 movements, 99 main movements and Hidden Power, Return, Frustration and Pursuit. Some of these moves were important to the viability of various Pokémon, which can make them much less effective, as well as many signature moves of various Pokémon. If you try to transfer Pokémon with these moves, you appear to receive a warning message.
PokémoN sword and shield only lasts about 16 hours
The first streamer to beat the game's champion took around 14 hours, while skipping a fair amount of coach battles. The streamer games are timing at approximately 16-20 hours.
The graphic quality is really bad
The quality of textures and shadows in general is quite low. It is not uncommon to see lightened textures, fog effects to hide poor graphic quality ...
Constant graphic problems
Pop in (a character or scenario modeling suddenly appearing) is present at all points in the game due to poor coding. Trainers in battle models will disappear in the middle when using an attack with a large number of particles, but without camera effects to disguise their disappearance.
Animations are often of poor quality
The animations, one of the main reasons why Game Freak decided to remove some Pokémon according to various interviews. They say that there are little worked animations throughout the game, from those of normal attacks to key moments in the game, such as the encounter with the legendary that appear in the boxes. The constant recycling makes them not be careful with details such as the Scorbunny Evolution Headbutt attack is made by attacking with the legs
The game leaves no difficulty or challenge
While the difficulty in Pokémon has never been especially high, in Sword and Shield the team heals are constant. It gets to the point where during the first few routes you can't go beyond 3 trainer fights without getting a full heal. One streamer avoided fights and didn't train at all, but was still able to one-hit a Gym Leader's Pokémon that had used Dynamax. Therefore, there is no Victory Path after fighting the eight gym leaders and there is no High Command.
There is hardly any post-game in Pokémon Sword and Shield
There is no battlefront or building to act as a substitute. At most there is a battle tower and a few missions in which we defeat some Pokémon with Dynamax so that the rival catches the other legendary. The battle tower is also a lower version of the past towers, it has no Super battles, no triples and there are no tower bosses. They are just random trainers one after another.
Game limitations
The game limits the freedom of the player. You can't catch Pokémon in the wild until you get a badge that allows you to do so, which usually covers its current level. If you encounter a level 31 Pokémon, you won't be able to catch it until you come and beat the next gym. You also can't see if a Pokémon will be Shiny outside of battles.
Wasted features
One of the functions that they have tried to sell the most is that of Dinamax and Gigantomax, but these can only be used in gyms and raids. And seeing how they have treated Mega Evolutions and Z-moves, players imagine that in future releases, this mechanic will not return.
Modeling does not respect the scale of Pokémon
The biggest example is that of Wailord, the largest Pokémon of all, which measures 12 meters. In the game he is smaller than a coach.
There is no Global Trading System in Pokémon Sword and Shield
This is probably due to the fact that they are going to promote the Pokémon Home application, which we will have to pay for apart from the subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. This means that, except for surprises, for now we cannot exchange our Sword and Shield Pokémon online.
Pokémon Sword and Shield is poorly optimized
The game has been seen to be locked at 30 frames per second. Although that is not a big problem in itself, this is combined with the slowdowns at certain times, such as when using the Dynamax, which cause the number of frames per second to drop to a single figure. Everything indicates that the optimization is really bad.
Softlocking errors and game locked
More than one player has reported that the game has blocked their way and the only option is to restart the game. Others say that the game has completely stopped working and they have had to restart the console.
Little effort with combat funds
The game loves to abuse single color backgrounds with no mood details. Other times use the same forest fighting scenario even if you are fighting in urban areas, which is not known if it is a bug or a way to hide that there is no battle background in cities.
They also complain about the lack of music at key moments in the game such as the legendary battles. Starter Pokémon cannot be acquired in Shiny form.
The entrees are also brilliant locked. The world freezes when our character climbs a ladder and there are nonsensical weather effects like a sandstorm when we are crossing a lake And finally there is also no animation when you use the flight movement to transport yourself around the world.
All this is, for now, impressions of a version of Pokémon Sword and Shield that should be the final. It is possible that there is a patch that solves many of these problems, but they are the ones that users have found with the final version that will hit stores this Friday.
