Tom Petersen leaves NVIDIA to join Intel
This is a very important signing, since Intel had only signed AMD engineers at the moment. Petersen joins the processor giant and will join the team of Ari Rauch, a former AMD worker. Rauch is currently below Raja Koduri, who is also from AMD and is Vice President of Graphics Products and Technologies. Petersen has spent 14 years at NVIDIA as Technical Director of Marketing.
His CV is impressive and it is that before joining NVIDIA, TOM worked for IBM and Motorola, where he designed PowerPC processors. He also collaborated in the development of an embedded processor for a company called SiByte that was acquired by Broadcom, where he was Director of Engineering.
“Today was my last day as an NVIDIA employee. I will miss you. They supported me through some difficult times and I am forever grateful, ”he announced yesterday on his Facebook account.
Although his last position was in marketing, Tom is an expert in G-Sync technology and helped improve the gaming experience with NVIDIA graphics products. A brutal signing by Intel that is sure to contribute a lot.
Intel does not reach the graphics card market to compete for the low-end and mid-range, two markets that have little profit margin. The company wants to compete in all ranges and especially in the high range, which is where the money is and it will do so from day one.
