Twitter will officially implement 280 characters for all users as of today and all users will gradually arrive and it is expected that the messages will not be lost.
The microblogging social network Twitter now makes the new character limit available to all users. It was at the end of September when some lucky ones could make use of more than 140 characters, as usual and they could make 280 characters in their tweets. Today the 280 characters will be made official for all users and it will be available for all languages, except for Japanese, Korean and Chinese, since they did not have space problems, indeed, few tweets in these languages reach 140 characters, contrary to what happens in English and Spanish.
After a month and a half of beta phase, the social network Twitter itself has published the results of this new experience in which the characters have been doubled for a certain number of users. The first days, these users reached the limit of 280 characters, but little by little it has become normalized. It is expected that in the coming days we will see a similar behavior in the majority of users and with the passage of days and weeks, the process will stabilize.
According to data from the social network, 9% of tweets in English and 5.3% of tweets in Spanish reach the 140 character limit, which forces to edit the texts to compress the message, something that causes many users end up leaving it aside. Users with messages of 280 characters have decreased in English to 1% and in the case of Spanish this figure is 0.8%, avoiding wasting time editing tweets and reaching the limit less frequently.
There was a way that this change would give a radical change in the stories of Twitter, losing the brevity and beginning to see an increase in the size of the tweets that ruined the experiences. Interesting figures have been obtained, since 5% of the tweets reached 140 characters and only 2% exceeded 190 characters, something that supposes that there was still brevity in the messages.
