Amazon cancels its MOBA Crucible after its failure in July

The MOBA Crucicle from Amazon has lasted just a few months. It came out in July and has been removed after trying to rescue it.

Amazon wants to enter the world of video games, but it doesn't seem to have gotten off to a good start. One of its projects is Crucible, a MOBA that draws inspiration from Overwatch and other games in the genre. It received a very poor reception, and due to the negative feedback, it reverted to beta and attempted to rework it. But it's ultimately going to be withdrawn.

A small failure for Amazon in the world of video games

In July, the Crucible development team put the game in closed beta to do the necessary reworks for the game to move forward. They had a long list of ideas to implement. But the game will no longer continue because Amazon has decided to stop supporting it since it cannot do much more in an already saturated market.

The development team has announced that they should leave the game and move on to the development of the MMORPG New World, also made by Amazon Games. Crucible will lose online options until its closing on November 9. Thus, another failed chapter in the history of Amazon Games closes.

After the closure of Crucible, Amazon Games now only has the MMORPG New World as its last major project. It will need to get everything right to attract an audience that only has time for one MMORPG in their daily lives, attract casual players, and retain them. And most importantly, it needs to know when to give them time and when to react. Currently, the only major MMORPGs that are successful in the Western market are World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV Online, the latter achieved by completely rebuilding an MMORPG that was outdated when it was released.
