The GTA V source code confirms that there was DLC in development

Grand Theft Auto IV had one of the best examples of DLC with The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned, which took advantage of rarely used areas in the normal story mode. And when GTA V came out and came out with great success, there was no DLC, nor does it seem like there were any intentions from them to expand the world in which it is played.

A few days ago, Rockstar Games suffered a huge hack that wiped out the entire GTA V source code. They wanted to sell it, but only offers of a maximum of 2.000 US dollars were received. And among that source code was revealed What really happened to the GTA V DLC.

We were going to have a lot of DLC for GTA V, even returning to Liberty City

As can be seen in that source code, Rockstar had planned up to eight DLCs for single player mode. Some of these DLCs were "packs", which could have been smaller in scope, but could have added weapons, vehicles and robberies that would have given their hours of play, especially with the GTA V cheats.

Three of them have labels that might indicate that they were going to have a substantial amount of content. The first one is “Agent Trevor", which references Trevor, one of the three playable characters; "The Prologue," which could give us hours of content about what led Michael to betray Trevor and what he had to do to get them to agree to put him in witness protection; and "LibertyV«. The latter is named after the city of Liberty City, which could be used for another adventure, although perhaps smaller in size.

As the Insider Gaming portal points out, Rockstar already confirmed in 2017 that its main objective would be GTA Online. But certain rumors claim that DLC plans for the single player mode were initially affected by the departure of Leslie Benzies in 2014. While it is easy to blame only GTA Online and its success as the reason for not having this DLC, it could have been the final confirmation that they were not going to need to do it.
