The more FPS you have in Fortnite, the better chance of winning you have
They detect that the Fortnite graphics engine has a problem with the lack of shooting, favoring users who run the game more at higher FPS.
Free-to-Play games for income usually offer elements that give an advantage over non-paying users. This clearly unbalances the game between those who pay and those who do not. But what if the imbalance is not due to the purchase of games, but because of the game? This is what happens with Fortnite and PUBG. Apparently due to a bug in the game code, those who run it at 30 FPS have a slower rate of fire than those who run it at 60 FPS.
Unreal Engine code problem
Some users spotted this issue and posted it on Reddit. This prompted the team at Digital Foundry, a Eurogamer portal specializing in technical analysis, to start investigating this. The study has found that users who run the game at 30 FPS have a significant disadvantage.
"There is a lot of discussion about a high firing rate in Fortnite when there are high framerates," say Digital Foundry researchers. “We have noticed a 5.2% increase in rate of fire at 60FPS vs 30FPS in this test. A normal player will not realize it, but in a professional game this difference becomes a significant advantage and easy to repeat "
The problem mainly affects Nintendo Switch users, as it can only be run at 30FPS.
From Epic Games they have reported that they are aware of the problem and that they are working to correct it through an update. A problem that was first detected in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds using the Unreal Engine graphics engine. When sharing a graphics engine with Fortnite, the two games present the same problem.
Lots of discussion about higher Fortnite fire rates with higher frame-rates. We noted a 5.2% increase in fire rate at 60fps vs 30fps in this test, but no further advantage beyond that. Epic says it will be fixed in an update. pic.twitter.com/lmbgNOhrLR
