DOOM and DOOM II classics on Steam get widescreen (16: 9) support

The two DOOM games from 1993 and 1994 can now be comfortably played on current monitors. They are supported natively.
Bethesda doesn't like to abandon its DOOM franchise since it acquired it when it bought id Software. He has released new installments such as the award-winning reboot in 2016 and Doom Eternal, but he has not hesitated to release commercial versions of the classic, and to update it over time.

A panoramic support patch that modern gamers appreciate
Ever since they released a special version of DOOM with DOOOM III, id Software has based re-releases of the game on modern systems on that version. That version is the one played today on Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. That makes them able to update them.
Unexpectedly, both classic games in the franchise have received an update that allows them to be played in widescreen natively. Previously, the game was adapted to the widescreen format but was left with a stretched look to the sides to fill. This patch makes the panoramic aspect ratio fully native to both DOOM 1003 and DOOM II 1994. This also increases the field of view to one that was not available in the original game when it came out 27 years ago.
In addition to this, a new Deathmatch 3.0 mode created by the community is added, an optional help with the crosshairs to know if when we shoot an enemy our shots will hit, and a new ultraviolent difficulty level. They will be games older than many people of voting, drinking or smoking age; but they are still fun and it is appreciated that after so many years they update both DOOM in their versions of consoles and Steam. This is quite an incentive to return to the classic games if one has already demonstrated their full potential by eliminating demons from hell armed with our trusty double barreled shotgun and chainsaw.
