Cyberpunk 2077 announces its first paid expansion, which will not come to PS4 or Xbox One

In a special episode of Night City Wire, the developer's broadcast on Cyberpunk 2077, CD PROJEKT RED has revealed the name and trailer for the game's next expansion. Along with it, they have given details of the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the game's Edgerunners update to commemorate the arrival of the animated series.

In this Night City Wire, the next expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, called Phantom Liberty, has been revealed. Through a small trailer, a glimpse of the expansion has been shown.

This will be the first expansion of Cyberpunk 2077

It has been confirmed that a new set of characters will be introduced in the Phantom Liberty expansion, with whom V will come into contact in a new location in Night City. Phantom Liberty is scheduled for release in 2023 on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Stadia. They have confirmed that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles will not receive it. Although not official, it may be because they are the systems that have been most hindering the multiplatform development of the game.

Following the trailer, a video message from Keanu Reeves was shown, announcing that he would reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand. It was feared that he would not repeat, being a Hollywood star. Giving his voice to the DLC would imply finding a place for him on the agenda and for this reason it was speculated that the expansion was going to be a prequel, or happen at a time when V does not yet have the engram of Johnny Silverhand in his head, which is at the start of the game. All of this was made possible by not having to call again. Keanu Reeves or having to find a gap in your schedule.

For their part, they remembered Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Anime Coming to Netflix on September 13. More details have also been given about the latest Cyberpunk 2077 update, titled Edgerunners, or Patch 1.6, which adds items from the anime to the game. Players will have the opportunity to wear the jacket of David Martínez, the protagonist of the anime, as well as to get hold of the shotgun of one of the characters in the series. Alongside the Edgerunner-inspired items, the update also includes a number of new features.

One of them is the transmog, the garment transmutation system to be able to have the desired appearance permanently while having the statistics of other presses. There's also cross-platform progress; and a minigame called Roach Race accessible from arcade machines, among other new features.
