Fan fixes GTA Online loading times on PC after 7 years

GTA Online no longer has everlasting loading times if you play it on PC. A fan has managed to fix an error more than five years later and the loading times of GTA Online are not so great.
Until now, if you wanted to play GTA Online you had to wait several minutes for the game to load, and load times could be more than five minutes. Okay, it's a big, content-filled online world… But does it really take that long to load into a playable state? A fan has shown no.
GTA Online is more playable now on PC
While GTA Online on consoles has a satisfying gaming experience, the PC version has been at such load times for seven years. Of course, you only load the game once, and you can play for hours and hours later. But waiting that long does not encourage playing a quick game.
Through experimentation, a modder named t0st checked what was causing it: poorly optimized code, a JSON file that he constantly checked, and all of this loading from a single CPU core. Two bottlenecks that caused a JSON file containing 63 files to check every time it finds an object. Thus, the game has to do 000 1 984 531 checks when loading every time we access the online mode.
The modder in question managed to cut GTA Online's load times from eight minutes to just two. Rockstar Games was able to implement that little patch and thousands of users claim that the load time is cut to less than half. t0st has received a reward of $ 10 that Rockstar gives to those who find security flaws, but in their case it is an exception. Now all players will save minutes of waiting before playing GTA Online on their PC.
