MiHoyo now expects Genshin Impact to last over 10 years

Genshin Impact has been one of the biggest hits of the past year and now he expects it to last about ten years instead of five. They have accumulated a total of 40 million players at the end of 2020.

The game continues to see constant content growth throughout the months, and it remains one of the most popular games out there. A major content update is released for the game every six weeks or so, with new characters, missions, story, and more. There were plans for that to only last five years but now it seems they are going for ten years.

Genshin Impact will be relevant until 2030

Update 1.4 was the last update released for Genshin Impact, adding the replay of Venti's banner and Rosaria's character along with the Herald of the Abyss quest. The character encounter missions were a success for those who wanted to get to know the characters more.

At the time, miHoYo had already revealed that a major update will be released every six weeks, and that they had a 5-year life plan for the game. But now it has become a 12-year plan due to the profits that the developers have made from the game. It all comes from a leak from the discord Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, a pretty credible source in the Genshin Impact leak community. This joins other leaks that MiHoyo is deliberately delaying certain content to lengthen the game and thus optimize profits.

All this indicates that the plan is to keep Genshin Impact alive until beyond the year 2030, seeing that many people return every time there is a new update. And it will do so at the cost of giving updates with less content than they originally intended, and repeating banners of much loved characters like Venti's, one that they put in the beginning of Genshin Impact's life. They could also end up repeating events like Stars that do not return.
