Scott Pilgrim's game may be back on sale

Ubisoft's Scott Pilgrim game may be available again on consoles. The author of the comic, the composer of the soundtrack and the director of the film have not stopped asking for it to be available again.

For many, the name Scott Pilgrim may not be very familiar. But between 2009 and 2011, it was a milestone because it managed to get an independent comic, without the support of Marvel o DC; was one of the most popular and followed titles in the geek scene in general. In 2010, he managed to have a movie directed by Edgard Wright, and a video game. Said game is the subject of this news.

Scott Pilgrim's game that disappeared but can return

It should be said that Scott Pilgrim's game was highly ambitious to be a game designed to go out with the film. It was an ambitious beat em up that blatantly copied River City Ransom, with pixel art by Paul Roberrtson, which we would later see in Mercenary Kings and series like Gravity Falls; and music by Anamanaguchi. The result was a title that went far beyond what one would expect from a licensed game.

But his biggest problem was that: being a licensed game. After some DLCs came out, in 2014 the license expired and it was withdrawn from the PS3 and Xbox 360 stores. And without any opportunity to have it released on PC. Today, the only way to play the game is to have the account of someone who once downloaded the game.

In a short time it became a standard for the problems of only having digital versions of a game and the discontinuation of a game due to licensing problems. Scott Pilgrim fans have called for the game to return. But so have Bryan lee O'Malley, creator of the comic, director Edgard Wright and the Anamanaguchi group.

Scott Pilgrim's turn of the game may be near

O'Mally confessed that being a game based on a movie is what made it a commercial failure. Because it is made to accompany a movie, its success depends on how well it performed at the box office. The movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World cost $ 90 million at the box office, and although it is lowered to $ 60 because of tax exemptions, the box office only reached 45 million.

That means that neither the movie nor the video game that served to promote it were profitable and that is why Ubisoft abandoned its license. For years, many involved have asked that Scott Pilgrim's game fly. And they ask for it although many of them do not receive any financial return.

On the 10th anniversary of the film, the team involved has made a "remembrance" on social media. And of course, they asked for Ubisoft to re-release the game. It seems to have borne fruit because Bryan Lee O'Malley commented on Twitter that Ubisoft has contacted him.

Now it remains to be seen what comes out of this. It is likely that they will dedicate themselves to releasing a remaster of the game with all the DLC on PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox series X. It is the only thing that fans ask
