The Avengers game on Steam barely exceeds 1.000 players

It was presented as a service-friendly game, but now Avengers has hardly any players. There are so few that there are problems in matchmaking.

During its promotional phase, Square Enix was insisting that the official Avengers game on PS4, PC, Stadia and Xbox one would be a game as a service and platform for Marvel-related content. In theory it was going to last a long time and stay alive as a service, but it seems that the players are not receiving it very well.

Suqare Enix has not given many details about how the online mode of the Marvel Avengers game is being lived. But there are third-party tools that calculate your popularity online. Thanks to them, it has been seen that at least the Steam version has at most 2 000 players at a time and has valleys of less than 1 000 simultaneous players.

Paul Tassi from the magazine Forbes has called this a repeat of the case of Anthem. According to Tassi, the Avengers game does not have enough online content to keep players interested, while the team has had to delay the additional content due to the huge amount of bugs and to try to balance the loot system. Since players don't know when they are going to substantially update the game, they are abandoning it.

With so few players, there are already problems of matchmaking to find games online. In the case of the PS4 version, it is difficult to form a team of four for the daily missions. Worse, although the game seems like a ghost town, they have not abandoned it because until further notice, Hawkeye Kate Bishop arrives at Marvel's Avengers at the end of the month, and soon characters like Black Panther. It is also speculated that they will make the game crossplay between platforms, but PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will exclusively have Spider-Man as a controllable character, which could isolate them from the rest of the players.
