Borderlands 3 will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store and it has not sat well with fans who do not want to download the Epic store. They have turned their frustration out on giving negative reviews of Borderlands games on Steam, the first to test the new system against mass negative reviews.
When the exact release date for Borderlands 3 was announced on September 13, it was announced that the PC version will have a six-month exclusivity period on the Epic Games Store. Many players have been angered by this decision because of their reluctance to the Epic Games store and have voted in droves for Borderlands on Steam.
Many negative reviews that will not count in the global count
A few days ago, Steam introduced a new system that would detect “review bombing” movements, the act of voting negatively or positively on a game en masse for reasons unrelated to its quality. Many users have abused this, such as when Detention was invaded by Chinese players for making fun of its president. This means that overnight, a game that had very good reviews goes to have a mixed or negative review and harms the game’s sales.
Valve wanted to avoid this abuse of the system and recently introduced an algorithm that detects spikes in mass negative ratings that would not be related to new updates to the game. The first case in which this algorithm has been seen in operation is Borderlands games, which at the time.
The reason for these negative analyzes that sparked the algorithm? Borderlands 3 exclusive for six months on the Epic Games Store in which many players do not want to invest their money. An understandable decision that they want to ignore the game if it is in a store that does not have services that convince them.
