The creators of WWE 2K will create their own series of wrestling games
The same team that makes WWE 2K will for its part make a franchise that competes with them. By not having ties to Vince McMahon's company, they will have more freedom to make a more experimental game.
If you like wrestling games, for years they have been dominated by the WWE license. There have been attempts at alternatives like 5-Star Wrestling, while Fire Pro Wrestling World dazzles the most demanding. But having a virtual monopoly on the media has meant that there is no competition or ambition for WWE games.
An alternative game to WWE 2K made by the same team, but made with more passion
In an interview with Hiromi Furuta, vice president and producer of Yuke's, the company that makes the annual games for the WWE 2K franchise; She stated that having little competition with other companies has caused the series to drop its quality considerably. They make the games every year but feel that they simply have to follow a list of tasks to complete the product and that does not allow them to get the best game possible.
That is why they are officially creating their own alternative to those WWE 2Ks. A game of wrestling and wrestling in your style and rhythm that allows you to get the best out of the team. They will ensure that it is made by a team of show enthusiasts so that a fan-made title comes out so that it is well received by the community.
They gave as examples an Earth Defense Force game that they agreed to make because the director in charge was a fan of the series of games that parodies the Starship Toopers-style movies; and the Berserk games they made years ago. In the latter case they weren't brilliant but many fans liked how they adapted Kentaro Miura's manga. The title for now is in its first stages of development, and its creation will not take resources away from the imminent WWE 2K20, which it seems that this year will have as protagonist Kurt Angle.
