The Avengers will be a game as a service, but without lootboxes and with free content

Square Enix has shown the Avengers game that they announced two years ago. It will be a game as a service, but the content you will receive over time will be free.

At their E3 conference, which aired very late in the day here, Square Enix finally revealed the Avengers game developed by Crystal Dynamics (new Tomb Raider trilogy) and Eidos Montreal (new Deus Ex installment). It was the perfect time, now that Endgame was released months ago and fans are eager for more of the superhero group.

Free content and no lootboxes for the next great Marvel game

The first thing that was seen is that it will follow a very different story from the one in the movies, so it will be ideal for those who are curious about the characters but are not too tempted by the movies. It will be a story that will happen five years after a great misfortune happens that claims dozens of victims and the unit of The Avengers has been officially dismantled.

We will be able to control the Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor and Captain America at the beginning, which means that Hawkeye is missing from the start. We do not rule out that it will arrive in the future as DLC, and they said that all the heroes and new regions that will come to this Avengers game will be totally free. There will be no lootbox or pay to win system, and here we speculate that Marvel put as a condition that there should not be these elements after seeing the bad reviews that Star Wars: Battlefront II received from Electronic Arts and the damage they did to the Star Wars brand.

Going back to the superhero game, it has been given the release date of May 15th. It will come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia, so in the latter case we will not have to have a particularly powerful system to play it.
