Starfield would have far fewer bugs than expected from a Bethesda game
It is well known that the Gamebryo engine, which later evolved into the Creation Engine that Bethesda employs, bears a considerable part of the blame for how Bethesda games have an enormous amount of bugs. Because they put so many elements to interact with, and the worlds are huge, testing everything is virtually impossible. Therefore, Starfield is expected to have a large number of bugs.
Such is the expectation for the Starfield bugs, that the Fallout 4 and Skyrim modders together to make a great patch that solves the main failures of Starfield. But it turns out that there will not be as many bugs as expected.
Starfield won't be such a big bug field, apparently
Xbox's Matt Booty had already assured fans that Starfield would not repeat the mistakes of previous installments of Bethesda Game Studios. He commented that it would launch with the least number of bugs of all the developer's RPGs. Now that review copies of Starfield have been distributed, some sources have assured Insider Gaming that the game is very polished.
One critic stated that “not a single bug had been found during the first fifteen hours of gameplay«. This detail caught the attention of fans who were hoping for a polished release, and of people who were waiting for it to come out to make bug compilation videos. Several days later, the aforementioned report claims that five reviewers who are currently on NDAs, have shared a similar story. According to them, the number of bugs they have found «you can count on the fingers of one hand«.
Other critics claim that "have encountered one or two bugs "At most." If true, it would mean that, as Matt Booty had promised, the game would have been polished. It is possible that this is due to the time they have been polishing the Creation Engine 2, since this game will be the first to use this engine improvement. And the criticism of the original engine has been constant since the release of Skyrim, which will be twelve years ago this year.
