Modders begin to abandon Starfield because it is a “garbage” game
Well before Starfield came out, we knew there was going to be mods for starfield, because as it is a bethesda game, it will have a community behind it that will make the mods to correct errors and expand the game. At least that was the initial idea, because apparently modders would be abandoning Starfield, or at least one of the biggest mods.
According to VG247, the modder who at the time made a mod for Skyrim that allowed playing in cooperative mode, it will not do so with Starfield. And such a case can result in a domino effect and that the modder community for Starfield is rapidly disappearing.
Starfield loses one of its biggest modders
Modder Cosideci started the Starfield Together mod because he thought it was going to be an entertaining game. It didn't have co-op, but it was nothing a mod couldn't fix. Until he thoroughly tested the game and saw that the game was not to his liking.
As he commented in a post on Discord, work had begun on porting the Skyrim Toguether mod to Starfield. He spent launch day and the next few days playing it and seeing how he could implement it using reverse engineering. But little by little he saw that he was not interested in the game, and he lost interest. He literally said “this game is f***ing garbage“, and it is his reason for abandoning him. He doesn't want to invest in a game that he believes is boring, bland and doesn't have the key elements that make Bethesda games interesting, like exploration and a living, hand-crafted world. He wasn't going to put his soul and labor into such a mediocre job. At least, put the source code of the mod he had in progress and released it to be open source.
Being one of the biggest mods, and the cooperative mode a great incentive for many, it is possible that this is the first step in modders abandoning the game. And with Bethesda games being titles that survive over time with mods, it can quickly put an end to interest in Starfield.
