Death Stranding: We already knew it was going to come out on PC since it was announced

In the last hours the alarm has been raised because Sony is no longer promoting Death Stranding as an exclusive title for PlayStation 4. It is thought that it will come out on PC one of these days, possibly on the Epic Games Store as an exclusive title, but the truth is that is nothing new that many of us who follow the new title of Hideo Kojima did not already know.

Death Stranding can always come out on PC, nothing has changed

The merger between the new Kojima Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment was announced in December 2015 when Kojima was able to escape Konami's yoke after finishing everything related to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Not without first having a huge boo towards Konami for having legally prevented Hideo Kojima from going to The Game Awards gala to collect the prizes that the game would take. The following year Kojima would show the second Death Stranding trailer at the gala, which featured Guillermo del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen.

Returning to the announcement of the collaboration between Sony and Hideo Kojima, the video in which they confirmed the collaboration came with a series of answers to several questions. The one that concerns us next is whether the game was going to be exclusive to PlayStation 4, and the answer is that Sony only has console exclusivity prior to the release of the game on PC.

These types of agreements have been common by Sony during this generation. They already helped with the financing and promotion of Street Fighter V as long as it did not come out on Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. In today's case, they support it with promotion, financing and the transfer of the Degica Engine used in Horizon: Zero Dawn by Guerrilla Games. All this is nothing more than Sony reminding us that they will not always have the exclusivity of the game beyond the fact that it will be on PlayStation family consoles. Now, when will it come out on PC? They already said they weren't going to comment on anything but we can expect it to hit Steam or the Epic Games Store six to eighteen months after its release on PlayStation 4, at which time it will indeed be exclusive to the console but for a while. limited and we will never see it on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or Google Stadia.
