We can expect more movies based on Nintendo games

If in the 90s a Super Mario Bros. movie came out that took too many liberties due to behind-the-scenes issues more interesting than the movie that made Nintendo not want to license big projects with their franchises; Today we talk about the success of the super mario bros movie of Illumination as a complete success. It is one of the highest grossing animated films.
So it's hardly surprising that Nintendo has seen the potential of making movies today. And many fans are salivating over the movie ideas of The Legend of Zelda, Metroid and even Super Smash Bros. But that will be seen when the time comes.
Nintendo does not rule out new movies based on its franchises at all
The Super Mario Bros. movie was released a few weeks ago to great acclaim. It has grossed nearly $900 million to date. Shigeru Miyamoto, one of Nintendo's most recognizable and influential faces, has stated that "there is no doubt that more projects are coming«.
Speaking to the Japanese news website Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that there may be more Nintendo movies on the way. I declare that we cannot doubt it. Although this is more of a declaration of intent than an announcement itself, given the box office success it has been, without counting the related merchandising and sales increase, we can hope that there will be more films of this type. They wouldn't have to be made by Illumination, mind you.

Days after the film's release, both Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo and Chris Meladandri, CEO of Illumination, were asked about the prospects for future nintendo movies.
«There is nothing I can comment on at this time. But we start from the fact that we have a shared vision of creation, so I think there will be opportunities in the future.. As Chris mentioned, there is nothing we can share right now. But I am sure that we will continue to work on this partnership«.

Whether it's obvious or a surprise, for Nintendo fans it will be a good surprise. Quite possibly in the next few months, they will announce their plans to make more movies, either at an investor meeting or a Nintendo Direct.
