PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds recovers one million simultaneous players thanks to Vikendi
After several months, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds once again passes one million simultaneous players thanks to the new Vikendi map.
Perhaps the most important game of 2017 in terms of players was PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The game popularized the Battle Royale mode that has been copied ad nauseam. So much has been copied that the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 or the criticized Battlefield V will have this game mode. The Bluehole title has smashed the record for simultaneous players at impressive speed. It seems that its popularity is no longer so high, although it still moves many users.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds recovers the figure of one million simultaneous players
The problem for PUBG has curiously come from Epic Games. Bluehole uses Epic Games' Unreal Engine graphics engine. The company had the Fortnite title on the market which did not work. It was adding the Battle Royale mode to the title and making it free and hitting it. Above all, it has allowed those who did not want to pay to play PUBG to have a platform to try the Battle Royale mode.
Throughout the year PUBG has been far from the one million simultaneous player figure. Things have changed these days with the release of the Vikendi map. Steam shows how it once again has a million simultaneous players, something that did not happen months ago. This new totally snowy map has been specially developed to be released during the Christmas period.
It seems that at the moment the map is working well and attracts users. One of the criticisms of Bluehole is that it is so slow adding maps and other elements. In this, Epic Games is better, which every so often makes small changes to the map, changes cosmetic elements and also, Fortnite is completely free.
