Quake 2 RTX minimum requirements call for Core i3-3220 and RTX 2060
The minimum requirements for Quake 2 RTX have been published by NVIDIA, requiring at least an RTX 2060, hence the RayTracing.
Last week during Computex 2019 the game was seen Quake 2 RTX. NVIDIA in collaboration with id Software and Activision have added RayTracing to this game. A few weeks ago we already saw a kind of unofficial demo made by a fan of the saga. Now we fully see the game with RayTracing. Real-time light ray tracing technology gives this classic game a new look. The classic graphics have been preserved, something that allows the hardware necessary to move it to be quite simple.
Quake 2 RTX Requirements
It has been NVIDIA who has revealed the minimum specifications of this classic game. Logically to use RayTracing technology we will need a Turing architecture graph with RT Cores. The simplest on the market with this premise is the RTX 2060. Although, although Pascal or Turing graphics can be used without RT Cores, we will see how the performance falls through the ground. This is because they are not prepared to run full RayTracing.
The minimum requirements are as follows:
- Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i3-3220 @ 3.30 GHz or its equivalent in AMD
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or better
- Storage: 2 GB available space
- API: volcano
Except for the graphics card, the rest of the specifications are quite low and mostly everyone will have a more powerful processor than that. The big problem will be the graphics and we know it, but if we want to enjoy Quake 2 RTX, we will have to go through the box. Our recommendation is to wait for E3 2019, as NVIDIA will present the RTX 'Super'. Possibly after the event the current RTX Turing charts may go down in price and become more accessible.
