Black Mesa, the remake of Half Life, has been finalized

If you wanted to play the Half Life remake or revisit the game, its development is complete. It is not official, but Valve will not do anything to prevent its sale on Steam.

When a port of the first Half Life came out on the Source engine nearly 20 years ago, fans were disappointed by the paucity of new features and enhancements to Quality of Life. A group decided to make their own remake of Half Life with aspirations to come out in 2009 under the name Black Mesa. Eleven years after that date, they have finally finished it after 16 hard years of development.

A Valve-approved Half-Life fangame has been terminated

It is true that a commercial version of Black Mesa, the remake of Half Life, came out last March, but it was a version that was far from being completed. It was missing levels and was still in a beta state. YOUR final content shouldn't have been long in coming, and it's now available on Steam.

Among the novelties of this remake with respect to the original Half Life, is that the physics mechanics of Half Life 2 are introduced. Therefore, the introduction has changed slightly so that they teach you to use the physics engine that was not in the 1998 game .

It may not be the Half Life 3 that many fans of the series expect: a game that doesn't ask you for a VR headset like Alyx. But it is a great detail that there is a remake of the first Half Life that solves many problems of the original like the Xen chapter, and that it uses a modern visual style. And all this with the official support of Valve, at least enough not to take legal action and put it in your store. The original Half Life is not going to disappear from Steam or anything, there will simply be the option to buy Black table as an alternative for new and old players, and now as a fully finished game.
