Resident Evil 2 Remake is getting a new game mode as free DLC

This week Resident Evil 2 comes to PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Capcom has already announced its plans for DLCs, and among them is a new free game mode that will arrive in a phased manner. The first part will have new controllable characters and at least one new enemy.

It's not uncommon to see a game get patches and additional content days, weeks, or months after its release. This keeps your players entertained and the relevant game off the second-hand shelves. Resident Evil 2 Remake is one of the most important games for Capcom. A remake of one of its most successful games needs all the love to convince the players, the critics and be a success in sales.

With the current development times, it is not surprising that some element of the game is left for later and delivered through an update. Capcom has announced The Ghost Survivors mode coming soon to Resident Evil 2 Remake. It will be free and they will give it to us in a staggered way, but you already know what the first part contains,

A free game mode with new characters and enemies to play and replay

The Ghost Stories mode will be a mode with randomly generated events and enemies, ideal for playing multiple times. We know there will be new controllable characters like Katherine and a member of the USS named Robert Kendo. There will also be a new enemy that does not appear regularly in Resident Evil 2.

There will be a shop to buy weapons and objects with which to improve our characters. Capcom has confirmed that there will be no microtransactions and we can only get new weapons through our efforts.

The gameplay will not be canon within the events of the series and will be an alternate reality. It has not been confirmed that classic characters such as Leon or Claire can appear in this mode, but they could be in future packages. For now there is no more information about this additional game mode, but they will arrive over the next few months.
