One of the most important games in history is Minecraft, a game that continues to sell copies. This game will soon receive a big update that will add Ray Tracing, giving it a very different look. Well, there is a twist that nobody could expect. Father Robert Ballecer, also known as 'the digital priest', who hosts various podcasts and programs on technology, will open an official Minecraft server of the Vatican State.
Minecraft is a game that has sold millions of copies ; in fact, in August of this year, it was the second best-selling game in the United States. It's a simple block-based game created by the Swede Markus Persson. Some even think the game is loosely based on Lego bricks.

Robert Ballecer has announced that he will start an official Minecraft server in the Vatican. And this is the conclusion of a survey in which he asked what game users want an official Vatican server. Minecraft has received 64% of the votes, beating games like Rust, Ark and Team Fortress 2 on the street.
It's not about technology, it's not even really about gaming, it's about bringing all those people together that maybe later can relate to each other in the real world, says Robert Ballecer, the digital priest.

It emphasizes that they seek to create a less toxic environment where people can express themselves and unleash creativity. The project is currently in the development phase and does not yet have official Vatican certification. Those interested who want to play or know how the server is doing, can do so at: Minecraft.digitaljesuit.com (which is not working at the moment)
Without a doubt a quite interesting proposal and that brings the church closer to the general public, or at least it tries. Recall that very recently the Vatican launched an electronic rosary in collaboration with an Acer subsidiary.
