Chris Roberts announced the delay of Squadron 42 from Star Citizen. It went from waiting for its beta to be this year to not having a direct date and the beta is expected for the year 2022 at the earliest. So, those who wait for this Star Citizen story mode will have to wait at least a year and a half more for play a beta version.
Roberts insists that he's the first one who wants it released, but that they have to release it when the product is ready. He has a new development roadmap, but points out that unforeseen events happen, and the game is even more ambitious than The Last of Us Part II , Red Dead Redemption II , and Cyberpunk 2077 , which were in development for many years.
He insisted that the game still has a long way to go, to simply reach beta. That means that the wait for a final version of Squadron 42 and therefore Star Citizen is not going to have a close end. But the game is still in development and moving forward, it has not been canceled or has any signs of doing so, simply that its development continues on its long path that it hopes one day to be finished.
