Steam touches 20 million simultaneous players and CS: GO exceeds 1 million

It will take away our power to go out on the street, it will take away from us having a beer, it will take away from hugging our loved ones, but what the coronavirus will never take away from us is to vitiate us. And it is that these days of confinement the traffic in video games has increased significantly. Something that reflects, for example, steam statistics these days or the internet crash in Italy.

We are very lucky to have internet, being able to watch content, play video games or contact friends and family without having to leave home. In another time, everything would have been more difficult and the numbers of contagion and deaths would be much more serious. You just have to remember the Spanish Flu (so named because only in Spain was it reported), how lethal it was.

Steam is approaching 20 million simultaneous players

Restrictions on mobility; closed colleges, institutes and universities; closed bars and restaurants; cause an increase in internet traffic. Steam is one of the biggest beneficiaries, approaching 20 million simultaneous players yesterday. The game that gained the most prominence yesterday was Counter Strike: Global Offensive, surpassing 1 million players. Being a free game with many game options makes it very attractive.

The second place went to Dota 2 that touched 700.000 simultaneous players. The third place has been for PlayerUnknown's with 525.000 simultaneous players. The one that once broke all the records on Steam is far from its historical figures, to which it may never return.

It should be noted that a few days ago Movistar indicated that video games had tripled consumption on the net. We have also learned that the internet in Italy collapsed due to the Call of Duty: Warzone update. These days internet connections are undergoing a stress test like never before.
